Ok. Here is my full, honest review.
I first saw SEIKO mod watches and got very excited about them, specifically the Rootbeer as I always loved the Rolex rootbeer. I settled on Modsera to make my first official purchase. The website said that the Rootbeer mod was in stock and I messaged the site and they said that is was ready to ship. I sadly feel like that was a lie.
I finally got an email saying it was in production, yet the first email should have been that it had shipped if it was in stock and ready to ship. I messaged the company and they said that there were specific parts that were not in stock and the watch had to be built in a factory in Sweden. They do have a website based in Sweden so that seemed legit. I originally purchased this watch because it said in stock and based in Florida so I figured shipping would be a week tops. I was wrong.
After some time goes by I get an email with tracking, using 17Track which is generally used with items shipping from China. I was confused because why would the tracking say this was coming from China when I was told it was built in Sweden. I sadly don’t believe the story I was told saying that boxes being used by a shipping partner were from China which is why tracking shows started in China.
Simultaneously as the tracking showed coming from China it also showed coming from Illinois, which was also super confusing. How could it be coming from two different places. I was told there is a warehouse in IL as well. Maybe the label for USPS was pre made in IL and 17track was representing two different tracking numbers simultaneously?
The chat option with Modsera always gave me an answer, albeit one that I was always left slightly confused.
Fast forward to delivery. I finally received the watch, and it looks great. The watch face itself is sturdy, and has some good heft, but I was a little disappointed by how the presidential band and the oyster clasp it came with feels kind of cheap. I’ve bought less expensive watches that have better feeling bands. They lack a little weight which bummed me out. The SEIKO logo is a little wonky, unlike my other Seiko that has a clean and crisp logo. This one looks after market and kind of sloppily done. I am glad the face does not say oyster perpetual date mimicking the Rolex it’s a homage to. The website photos show the face saying oyster perpetual whereas the final product just says GMT and has the SEIKO logo which is a good thing. Makes it feel less of a “fake” and more original and a homage which is what I wanted.
So far it keeps time very well!
Overall I am happy, however I am led to believe this comes from China and not Florida or Sweden like I was told. I hope I’m wrong but tracking information doesn’t lie.
This Seiko mod is a great value on a functional time piece that you can wear regularly without worrying about. The blasted finish on the bracelet and case face is well done without being too abrasive on your shirt sleeve. It is a little dazzling in the right light. The bracelet was a little stiff at first, but has become more pliable with less than a weeks wearing. It keeps time with in what is expected of a Seiko mechanical/automatic. I knocked off 1 star.due to the lume on the indices and hands. Even after wearing for a few days and charging with a flashlight, the illumination does not last long. Say if you were going to a play and wanted to check the time to intermission, you would have difficulty. It would likely not last into the second half either. The skeleton movement is unadorned aside from the jewels and a touch of artful machining marks on the rotor that winds the automatic movement visible through the display back. All in all, this is a good value for a Seiko automatic that is styled like a much more expensive watch.

Delivery was longer than it says on the page, but the product is as expected. Very good. Early to say i havent had it for long but it feels good so far.
Exceptional. Great weight to it. Well machined. Keeps accurate time. There’s some small flaws here and there, mainly just not every seam being perfect. But honestly, i can’t imagine there’s a better watch out there for the price point.
Highly recommended at price point. Far surpassed expectations! Stainless steel bracelet feels like much higher priced brands - not the cheaper tiny watches. Body of the watch is stainless steel, feels good. I find myself wearing this over higher priced watches. The value is unreal here!

Bracelet is a lil flimsy, but it’s a good watch. Solid build - just feels like an inexpensive piece.
It looks very pretty, it doesn't weigh much on hand, and it's perfect for small wrist. It's made out of good materials.
Unbelievable! I received my package in 10 days from when i ordered. How does modser make these watches at these unbelievable prices. Sapphire crystal, solid screw links, screw down crown, and great bezel action. The only negative is the lume is not as strong but you can still see it. This is my fifth seiko mod and they don't disappoint!

Generally seiko makes nice watches, and these submariner homages are no different. They are put together very well and look nice in the wrist.
